Giffordswedding.jpg

As seen in the New York Times, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords married astronaut Mark E. Kelly at the farm in November 2007!

Are you looking for special location for your wedding day – a place far from banquet halls and formula weddings?  Perhaps you have dreamed of getting married in the country with green grass under your feet and a canopy of trees over your head?  Maybe you are looking to have a “green wedding” and are hoping to exchange vows at a place contributing to a healthier way of life? (see a green wedding at AL in the Arizona Daily Star) Or, perhaps you, (like us), love Southern Arizona’s rich heritage and are looking for a historic, private ranch with horses and adobe buildings to share with your guests?
Well, there is NO OTHER PLACE like Agua Linda Farm to have your wedding, even Tucson Lifestyles named us as one of the top places to visit in the Tucson area!  We have also been featured in Town and Country Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens and the New York Times.  In southern Arizona, this is a rare, green oasis in the desert!  The adobe hacienda was built by the Ronstadt family and designed by noted local architect, Josiah Joesler in the 1940’s.  The family farmed the Agua Linda until Arthur Loew, a Hollywood movie producer, bought the ranch in the late 1950’s.  (His house guests included Elizabeth Taylor, John Wayne, Robert Wagoner and Gene Kelly, to name a few!)  Arthur’s son, Stewart has since converted the 63 acres into an organic vegetable farm, selling sustainably grown foods to local families.  The 10 or so acres surrounding the adobe hacienda, guesthouse and pool house has been the passion of Stewart’s mother, Regina.  Three decades of tending to this space has turned the grounds into the show-stopper that it is today – green lawns, roses, hollyhocks, iris’, primroses, daffodils and more take turns being the star of the show throughout the year.

NEW: For the first time, the Loews are offering the INSIDE of the Hacienda for a very exclusive, elegant wedding/reception.  The "Hacienda Package" is very unlike the outside weddings listed below and includes all the details of the most intimate and romantic wedding package available in Arizona.  For details click here.

Why choose Agua Linda Farm for your special day?

-    Time Flexibility
We do not limit your wedding day to a few hours like most places – the day is yours!  This is an important difference in comparison to other venues - here you have the time to set up all the little details and elements that will make your day unique.  Want to celebrate into the night?  We have no neighbors, so we have no noise restrictions - feel free to CELEBRATE!

We can accomodate large groups.
We have 63 acres - there are very few venues in the area that can offer space for groups of 200 or more - we can!

-    We are not locked in with any specific caterer.
Although Agua Linda is lovely enough for an elegant catered meal, perhaps you want a potluck?  Maybe you like the idea of a picnic style lunch with baskets and quilts spread in the grass – it’s up to you!  Do you have a favorite caterer or type of food you were hoping to serve?  You decide. (We would also be happy to recommend caterers who have been here before.)

-    Every wedding here is unique!
Some examples; one couple and their guests followed a path of mini-pumpkins out to a pasture where hay bales had been placed instead of chairs for the ceremony; another couple set up square tables end-to-end to form a long rectangle and served dinner “family style” with big bowls of pasta and other dishes placed every few guests; one couple opted to not rent a dance floor – they provided baskets of inexpensive “flip-flops” that matched their color theme for ladies to swap for their heels and dance on the grass; a few brides have come to the farm the morning before the big day to pick their own flowers in the garden; another couple were married at the near-by Tumacacori Mission (the elegant, yet very rustic remains of the former Catholic mission, now a state park about an 8 minute drive away) then had their reception at the ranch – there are no formulas here!

-    Going green!
Looking to “green up” your day?  Many brides start by choosing a venue that is in the “green business”.  What better place to have your environmentally conscious wedding than at a local, organic vegetable farm?  And, often, things we grow can be incorporated into your day.  There is very little carbon footprint that goes into a salad grown right here being included in your menu!  Certain times of the year flowers are also available or, in the fall, decorative gourds and pumpkins make lovely and reusable centerpieces.  One bride used packets of our hollyhock seeds as a favor for her spring wedding; another requested that we bottle our honey in small jars - a sweet treat for her guests!  Sunflower seeds are also available, or how about a pack of spicy crushed chili for a red themed wedding?

- Speaking of green...
Agua Linda is like an oasis in the desert!  Our guests love the lush, green surroundings with giant shade trees, grass and flowers.  We are located in the riparian area of the Santa Cruz River making our location unlike much of the dryer Sonoran Desert of our area.

-    No need to decorate!
Many of our guests (especially mothers-of-the-bride who have had other children married elsewhere before), comment on how little decorating needs to be done.  Sure, some still want to go all out, but the natural beauty here (especially in the spring and early summer) provides just about all the eye candy you need – and the view – well… it may compete a little with the bride!

-    There is plenty of room!
Say you have a big wedding – over 300, no problem.  Or, perhaps you want to spread out – have the ceremony in one part of the farm, the reception somewhere else, drinks in the pool house, croquette on one lawn and horseshoe pitching on another while the little ones take a hayride and visit the petting zoo, and finish with an after party in our cantina – we have a lot of room and love it when people maximize the space.

-    Lovely dressing room!
Wedding packages include a lovely dressing room for the bride (additional room available for groomsmen*).  The room is large and professionally decorated with a private bath, full-length mirror, make-up mirror and direct access to outside where a fountain playfully splashes!  You will feel utterly pampered!

- Easy to get to
We are located only 30 minutes south of Tucson (or, 25 minutes north of Nogales), right off interstate 19.  Our guests get to completely escape the city (you won't believe the stars at night!!), without trekking way out of the way AND out of town guests will especially appreciate the convenient drive from Tucson International Airport, which, being on the south end of Tucson, is very close - almost zero city traffic to get here from there.

- Nearby Accomodations
The Rex Ranch (a wonderful former dude ranch in the foothills nearby) and the Amado Territory Inn B&B are about 5 minutes away on the frontage road (no need for guests to get on the highway to get back to their room!).

Arizona at its finest!
Agua Linda Farm epitomizes the romantic notion of an Arizona ranch!  Out of town guests will especially appreciate it here.  Splashing fountain, adobe hacienda with red tile roof, giant mesquite trees (Poncho Villa may have napped under that tree…?), sprawling mountain views beyond pastures dotted with horses and cattle – Agua Linda has the perfect blend of elegance and the rustic west that is uniquely Arizona!  AND - especially fun for out of town guests - we are 5 minutes away from the small artist's community of historic Tubac, where shopping, museums and restaurants await, there are numerous golf courses close by, horseback riding and hiking trails are available, we are only 25 minutes from the Mexican border and nearby lodging is available with ample space for large groups only 5 minutes away.

-Natural Shade
Our farm is for outdoor events only.  You are welcome to bring in an event tent or rent ours* (seats 100) for insurance against rain (usually not a problem – this is Arizona, after all!), but you don’t need shelter from the sun!  Our giant mesquites, mulberries and cottonwoods, unusually large for Arizona, take care of that.

- History
Did you know that the Loew family (who own and operate Agua Linda) are the same family that created Loew's Theaters and the grandfathers founded MGM and Paramount Pictures?  The farm has hosted family friends of the past such as Natalie Wood, Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Collins, Robert Wagoner, John Wayne, Gene Kelly... to name a few.

-Stewart and Laurel Loew
Aside from our wonderful location, we think we are the next best reason to plan your event here.  We are not interested in being wedding coordinators, but we do more than just reserve the day for you.  We are more than happy to meet with you to go over the details and make suggestions.  We know this place better than anyone – we can tell you (more or less) what flowers will be blooming when, where the electrical outlets are, when the trees will be leafed out in the spring, etc. AND we have done so many events here – large and small – that we have a lot of ideas of how to make your day special and flow right.  We work hard on the day of your wedding to help tie up loose ends, direct parking etc.  We also are multi-talented.  Stewart used to be a sound engineer and can do the music for you, mike your ceremony and more.* Laurel has a good eye for decorating and has done many of the centerpieces and bouquets for weddings here at the farm, usually saving the clients a lot of money.*

-    “The best wedding I have ever been to!”
We hear it time and time again!

What we are NOT

-    We are not a restaurant and do not do catering
-    We do not have interior space for large events (other than pool house, which is included in all packages).  In the event of very bad weather, you may want to rent a tent.  Ours seats 100, but does not have sides.*  Under no circumstances will the house be opened to the public, except for clients who have booked the chapel*).
-    We do not rent tables, (other than our 19 picnic tables with benches*) chairs, linens, etc.
-    We are not a hotel and do not have overnight accommodations (we can recommend nearby places)
-   We do not currently have a liquor license, so if alcohol will be including in your event, you can save ALOT by bringing in your own, however, we do require you to hire our professional bar service (ask for details; we are in the process of aquiring a beer and wine license at which time this arrangement will change, all clients booked before license will be "grandfathered in" to our current staus)
