Field Trips

Farmer Stewart Loew and his wife, Laurel, a certified teacher, enjoy sharing their farm and knowledge with adults and children with farm tours and field trips by RESERVATION ONLY.  Scroll down for Fall and Spring Field Trip options.  Contact us to customize trips for scout troops.  Email us

Before booking an outing, please remember - this is a REAL WORKING FARM - NOT A THEME PARK!  Although we can guarantee a beautiful setting with animals to visit, hay rides and real gardens to see, we are at the mercy of mother nature!  *Weather, crops, etc. are not sure things!

Adult groups should contact us directly so we can tailor a tour to your needs and interests.  Home tours and lunch can also be included with adult visits.

For school groups, field trips can be booked in the spring (April, Tuesday through Thursday) and fall (October, Monday through Friday). A minimum of 20 participants is required (if you have less than 20 pying participants, you will still be charged for 20).  We recommend that you bring a few blankets to lay on the grass under the shade and have a picnic lunch before heading home (picnics are only permitted with a field trip package and are not permitted during regular hours).  Teachers and group leaders, please have your total head count including staff, students, parents and siblings with payment (check, cash, PO, credit or a combination of ) ready upon arrival, including parents traveling separately in their own vehicles. This will expedite the admission process.  Please advise parents that the cost is an admission fee - if they choose to forgo the hayride or to not take a pumpkin (fall field trips) they will still be charged.  If your whole group will be ordering food from our concession stand (fall only) we will need to know at least one week in advance to be sure that we are adequately staffed and supplied.

SPRING FIELD TRIPS - April

Spring is a wonderful time to visit the farm!  There are usually baby animals to visit and the grounds are green and bursting with the new growth of spring. Students visit and feed the farm animals, (including horses, ponies, geese, chickens, goats and sheep), gather eggs in the chicken coop, take a tour of the vegetable gardens, pick something from the garden*– organic, of course! – and enjoy a scenic hayride.  Group leaders are welcome to extend the experience with an Easter egg hunt.  Picnics are welcome.

Regular Spring Field Trip

-    $6/child(students and siblings), **$5/adults (teachers and troop leaders not charged), minimum of $100/group. (Groups can be as large as 150 kids). Please note - you will be charged to $100 minimum even if you have a group is small, for example: if you only have 5 kids and 2 parents, you will still be charged $100.

-    Available Tuesdays-Thursdays in April by reservation only (sorry, no Spring Field Trips on Mondays or Fridays).

-    There may be other groups here on the same day.

-    Email for more information and to book your day. In your booking request, provide 3 date preferences, estimated head count (children/adults) and grade/age level of kids.

NEW - For Horse Lovers (available for spring field trips only)

We love our wonderful horses and want to share them with you!  In addition to the regular Spring Field trip activities described above, you may add the Horse Lovers option.  Students will learn a little bit about horse care and take a pony/horse ride!  There is no weight/size restrictions (we have gentle horses and ponies) and this option can be tailored to any age from pre-school to high school!
- This option is limited to 20 kids.  There is no limit to number of parents attending (who will not be riding).
 - $200/ group for up to 20 kids (so, that’s $200 even if you only have 5 kids). That includes Regular Spring Field Trip described above and Horse Lovers option.  It does not include parent admission. Staff is not charged.
- **Parents will be charged $5 admission which is not part of the $200 minimum.
- Available Tuesdays-Thursdays in April by reservation only (sorry - we are not booking field trips on Mondays of Fridays this spring).
- Email with questions or to book your day! In your booking request, provide 3 date preferences, estimated head count (children/adults) and grade/age level of kids.

**Please advise parents that they will be charged admission whether they participate in activities or not.

*We always plant for spring picking, but Mother Nature has the final say - therefore, we cannot guarantee that kids will be able to pick vegetables.

FALL FIELD TRIPS

The pumpkin harvest is the most popular time to come to the farm and the fall field trips fill up fast!  Students will enjoy a hay ride, visit animals along the fence and in the petting zoo, have a garden talk, sack races, select a small pumpkin from the pumpkin patch,  play in the hay maze and on the haystack and enjoy our grassy, shaded picnic area.

Admission for fall field trip:

$7 per child (includes a small pumpkin.)

$5 per adult (does not include pumpkin.)  Parents can purchase pumpkins separately.  They will be weighed and priced per pound in the farm store. (Parents DO NOT have the $7 with pumpkin option.)

There is no charge for staff members.  One pumpkin per classroom (for teacher) is included at no extra charge.

Our concession stand is open during the fall field trips.  If you anticipate your whole group eating at our concession stand, we need at least one week notice to be adequately staffed and supplied.

Picnics are welcome.

Email us with questions and/or to book a date.  In your booking request, provide 3 date preferences, estimated head count (children/adults) and grade/age level of kids.

Field trips can be designed around your area of study.  This student was studying pioneer living which culminated in a trip to the farm to learn about the important role animals had in the lives of early settlers.
